How much does it cost to apply for Medicaid or Food Stamps with My Access Tampa?
Nothing. As a Florida DCF Community Partner, we help you apply for Medicaid and SNAP (Food Stamps) at no cost.
What documents should I bring to my appointment?
Photo ID, Social Security numbers for everyone applying, proof of income (recent pay stubs), proof of Tampa address, and immigration documents if applicable.
Do you help in Spanish?
Yes. Our staff is fully bilingual — ¡Hablamos Español! You can complete your whole application or enrollment in Spanish.
Do I need an appointment or can I walk in?
Walk-ins are welcome during business hours, but appointments get you seen faster. Call 813-590-0606 or request an appointment online and someone from our office will reach out within 24 hours.
When can I enroll in a Marketplace (Obamacare) health plan?
Open Enrollment runs each fall through mid-January. Outside that window you can still enroll with a Special Enrollment Period after events like losing coverage, moving, marriage, or a new baby.
Does it cost anything to use your health insurance or Medicare agents?
No. Plan guidance and enrollment are free to you — we are compensated by the carriers, and your premium is the same either way.
When should I sign up for Medicare?
Your Initial Enrollment Period is the seven months around your 65th birthday. Annual Enrollment runs October 15 to December 7, and Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment runs January 1 to March 31.
Can I get life insurance if I have health conditions?
Often yes. Final expense and guaranteed-issue policies are designed for applicants with health issues, and many plans require no medical exam.
What is a Level 2 LiveScan background check?
It is a fingerprint-based state and national background screening required by Florida agencies such as AHCA, DCF, and DOH for many jobs, licenses, and volunteer roles.
Do I need an ORI number for fingerprinting?
Yes. The ORI number tells FDLE which agency should receive your results. Your employer or licensing board provides it — bring it with your photo ID to your appointment.
